1970's photo and the quest for the truth did they find it ?
- Can anyone tell me approx date and style clothing? I showed this on show and someone told me but can't find the comments. Thanks for the help
- Michael E Stone The boots and the short shorts with the car say 60's to me.
- Darla Dykes Somebody got into my closet in the late 60's!
- Barbara Bazar Yes Chad I would say mid to late 60s to early 70s at the most. Short shorts and gogo boots I remember them well.
- Dawn Harris Whatever year this was made.
http://youtu.be/SbyAZQ45uww
"These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" is a...youtube.com - Gary Marsh the door handle on the car may put it closer to 70's maybe as new as 74 you may try researching that style door handle to see how far back that goes. I'm thinking maybe after 70 but no later 67
- Mark Pelletier That's enough clothing for 5 present day models!
- Christian Pace Late 60s to early 70s bases on the outfit.
- Darryl Van Kirk That's definitely 68 to 75 era.
- Donna MacMurray Klein "hot pants"
- Gary Marsh girls were still flanting those hot pants right up untill the late 70's
- Dawn Harris I have a pair of boots like these. I can't walk in them.
- William Porter Michelle Sawyer, I'm willing to bet that it is a Mercury Cougar, based on the Mercury sign in the background. Looks like a dealership.
- Gary Marsh no i don't think so to big
- Gary Marsh looks like a four door
- Gary Marsh maybe a big Buick or Chrysler
- Gary Marsh the wheel well and line on the bottom makes me think its a Chrysler
- Vivian Cummings Those look like go-go boots. Sixties maybe? But the hair looks more seventies.
- Joel Burkhalter Looks like a Lincoln Continental to me. maybe 1971 to 1975 ???
- William Porter Mercury Marquis 69 Brougham?
- Gary Marsh could be i thought that too
- Greg Mettelka I sell automotive. First impression that is a 73-75 mercury marquis the high back seats and door handles place the time period. Obviously new car auto show.
- Gary Marsh it;s defently a big car
- Gary Marsh that's what i was thinking around 73
- Chad Pagel Someone called the boots something other than gogo thanks. Think I have the time frame down
- Gary Marsh i don't think them door handle cane out until after the 70's
- Stephanie Abernathy Late 60 early 70s Mod
- Gary Marsh the boots maybe later 60's but the car is 70's
- Greg Mettelka I was wrong. Google images says door handles late 70s.
- William Porter I'm looking at the 69 Marquis, and they didn't have recessed handles. They had the older style with the push button, so probably a tad older, but at some point the woman's attire doesn't make sense.
- Gary Marsh ok
- Maggie Eubanks her outfit and hair are without a doubt 60's.
- Gary Marsh i had a 74 charger with those handles
- Gary Marsh my father had a 71 charger with the push button type
- Greg Mettelka On my phone without glasses. What do I know. Lol. It's 71-78. Take your pick.
- John Chartier thats a LINCOLN... town car 76-79 would be my guess... base model with hubcaps
- John Chartier marker light is the give away
- Gary Marsh the chicks out fit was the style from about 67 right up until mid 70's the hippy area
- John Chartier Gary Marsh look at the car, thats a lincoln look at the mirror, the door handle, and the marker light on front fender
- John Chartier trust me thats my dream car...
- Gary Marsh well i didn't see that pic
- John Chartier LOL
- John Chartier it is a two door contiental
- Gary Marsh ibeen going off the first one ..lol
- John Chartier its early 70s probably
- John Chartier 77 came out with that fin spoke lincoln had for years even carried it into the 80s
- Gary Marsh i knew it wasn't a small or mid size it was a large car
- Gary Marsh well i knew that door handle was put in to the market after 72 i think they came out in 73 on some models
- John Chartier trust me I dreamed of those cars growing up
- John Chartier flip cover head lights, ashtrays in the door handles, power seats, came in powder blue with white leather seating, am/fm/8track
- Kevin Miles Late 60's or early 70's
- Gary Marsh i think the one in Chad's pic is a 4 door .. the roof don't drop off like the 73 and the car behind that 73 is a 77 cougar had one just like it same color and everthing
- John Chartier I think it is aa two door town car, there is no pillar the four doors had didnt they??
- John Chartier the door hand came out in 74 it looks like by the way
- Gary Marsh just seems like the roof goes to far back to be a 2 two ... ya i had a 74 Dodge Charge with them door handles
- John Chartier Gary the town car didnt have the recess handles until the 80s, I just went through google images year by year, it is clearly a ford, the chrome screams lincoln, but maybe a mercury??
- Kadie Aldridge 53 comments and no one has mentioned the triangle on her nipple!!!!! Who are you people?
Based on the preferred triangle shape...I'd say 70s... - John Chartier LOL I give up has to be a lincoln.. I agree with the roof but the door handles are mark V or later
- Gary Marsh http://www.cars.com/vehicle.../detail/619119600/overview/...
- Gary Marsh either way Chad Pagel got a boat load of comments...lol
- Josh Hulley Now that that's figured out......what does the banner say in the background??
- Chad Pagel Lmao. I was waiting for a draw down
- John Chartier LOL....
- John Chartier Dude I was a kid back then but I dreamed of having one... I would buy one now if I could find a decent buy
- John Chartier cars just dripped style
- Gary Marsh we wasn't throwing down i think we were just trying to figure it out...lol
- Gary Marsh i must have been about 10 or 12
- Gary Marsh they did make some big old Mercury's back then as big as the linclon's
- John Chartier LOL i like how you find the friggin banner... Chad is going to have a great ad and story to go with the images LOL
- Gary Marsh lol
- Greg Mettelka Ya two doors on each side. Lol. It's a mercury. 4 door hardtop or dealer would describe as "sports sedan ". It's a marquis. Body style was used 71-78, downsized in 79. Clothes look early 70s to me.
- Kurt Kieffer 73'- 74'? Oil embargo era.
- John Chartier Cant be a Mecury Greg Mettelka look up any year marquis from that era and the door handles dont match...
- Gary Marsh ya it is
- John Chartier DING DING DING we got a winner
- John Chartier I was dead wrong LOL
- John Chartier but still had a lot of fun thinking about my dream car... I still can see it if I close my eyes.... (not long though might fall asleep)
- Gary Marsh well you were half right they were made by the same company
- William Porter If it matches a 71, then I would guess the pic is late 70. This looks like a showcasing photo, and I wouldn't see them making that big a deal unless it was a newly designed model.
- William Porter This is the good stuff you get in a group like this. A whole bunch of people contributing their knowledge and googling skills.
- Gary Marsh the messed up part about that car is it got just as good of gas mileage as some of the cars today probably had a big 490 or 512 big bock in it
- Gary Marsh Chad Pagel needs to find us some new fun stuff to play with
- John Chartier Hey Chad Pagel any more help you need??
- John Chartier LOL
- Gary Marsh to think it all started over a door handle...lol
- Gary Marsh looks like i may have been wrong about the door handle that 71 has the handle
- Chad Pagel So what exact model is it?
- Darryl Van Kirk The clothes or the car? I thought this thread was about clothing? Car a Marquis I think.
- Gary Marsh 1971 Mercury Marquis Brougham 4-Door Hardtop
- John Chartier 71 Mercury marquis Brougham 4 Door Hardtop retail was 5062.00 I agree this is late 1970 (car show) the banner in the back ground says Lincoln Mecury Sport Panel...
- Darryl Van Kirk o.K., everybody get back to work!
- Gary Marsh don't you mean early 70's the car was probably on display for the following year
- Gary Marsh buy it lol
- John Chartier Gary didnt they bring the cars out in teh actual year, not like now where they have the 2025;s coming out next month... it could be early 1970
- John Chartier Friggin killed that car with those wheels
- Gary Marsh right that's what I'm thinking they put this out the year before to show what next year model was they did then and they do it now ..,. kind a little taste of whats to come
- Gary Marsh maybe after may or june is when the car company start showing off their stuff
- John Chartier I show my stuff any chance I get
- Gary Marsh its still a 71 displayed in 70, but they generally want to see the consumers reaction early in case there is change they may need to make before full production
- Dreane Swanson The high boots dates it to around 1965-68 era
- Michelle Seidelman Wood I posted to my page asking for identification.
- Gary Marsh http://pickermountainreviews.blogspot.com/pickermountainreviews.blogspot.com|By GreenMountain Picker
- Vicky Stoss I showed it to my son and asked him if he knew about the car in the background. His response....."There was a car in the background?"
- Sherry Stives Fry Late 60's
- Ronnie Hart early 70's
- Emerson Gary Bryant MID 60S
- Scott Williams The Lincoln Mercury Sports panel was featured at the 1973 Chicago Auto Show. Looks like its a '73 Marquis.
- Bonnie Sweet boots suggest mid 60's
- Jennifer Michalak These boots were popular in the mid west in the early 70s. Based on the fact the ad is for a car I would say early 70s.
- Anthony Lombardi Can I get her number
- Scott Williams She's probably around 70 now Anthony.
- Chad Pagel Not ad but original photo that I personally think is the bomb
- Helen McHenry 70s
- Pat Bevis Kelley Late 60
- Rita Waters 60's
- Lee Koury-Schollenberger OMG so nice to see that I am not the only "older generation" here.
- Gary Marsh I think them BOOTS were made for Walking...lol
- Dorothy Segall Finkelstein Early 70's
- Mark Beatty Go-Go boots!

dealership in November to get ready for the next year and start selling
as soon as they receive them... everyone want to be the guy with the
newest toy on the block.
